The vibration damper (commonly known as a damper) is a device that absorbs vibrations generated by the crankshaft. It's widely used on heavy vehicles to prevent damage and sagging caused by vibrations. Typically, it also serves as a guide pulley for Poly-V belts and activates auxiliary components like the water pump, power steering, alternator, compressor, etc. Replacement is needed when the rubber absorbing element can no longer reduce vibrations due to wear. It's recommended to check that the rubber ring of the damper isn't too rigid, ensuring the rubber hasn't hardened excessively, crystallized, or developed cracks due to aging.
