In 1915, Europe's largest terminal station was completed in Leipzig, Saxony, operated by two State Railroads and measuring 298 m (326 yd) with access to 26 tracks. Mrklin, captivated, created O and I Gauge tinplate replicas in 1919-1920, featured until 1930 as 'Grostadtbahnhof' or 'Bahnhof-Anlage'. A 1:45 scale model would be 6.70 m (22') long. The 'Leipzig' station, despite its size, matched tracks and trains, incorporating real-life details and play value. Larger 1 Gauge models had an extra floor and cupola. Both versions were available in three configurations. The roof, adorned with tiles or stamps, featured a turret, metal windows, a clock, stairs, waiting rooms, and even a letter box and basin. Initially unlit, later models included interior lighting. Hand-assembled with high-class materials, it was expensive and exclusive. Post-WWII, it became a collector's favorite, with sets selling for over 20,000 Euro. In 2014, M.T.H. Electric Trains released a replica, No. 2036 B, capturing the original's essence.
