Sargassum (Sargassaceae Phaeophyceae) or Sargass, or “sea grapes” is a genus of marine brown algae from the family Sargassaceae. Sargassum rhizoids are attached to the bottom. Being torn off, they form the so-called thalli, which swim freely and do not breed. Distributed along the shores of the warm seas of the planet. Thalli form the so-called Sargasso seas (“meadows of the ocean”), which complicates the movement of ships.
